What we do and why?
Qatar Fund for Development’s vision is to give hope and promote peace and justice through sustainable and inclusive development. We have supported and financed the implementation of various projects and interventions that support and empower women, particularly in conflict and fragile settings. But given the complexity and intractability of conflict situations, their persistence and continued emergence worldwide, greater attention and focus across the international community must be placed on how to successfully respond to and empower women in conflict environments.
Women in Conflict Zones is a global initiative solely dedicated to the empowerment of women and girls in conflict environments. The initiative will focus on responding to women’s needs in crises, empowering women to effect positive change, and engaging women in peacemaking—toward the vision that women and their families not only can survive, but thrive, in the face of conflict – and ultimately contribute to the resolution of those conflicts over time.
The initiative will draw on work and learning from partners around the globe to drive awareness and response, innovation in program and practice, and knowledge-generation and sharing within the distinct context of supporting and uplifting women in conflict environments. Women in Conflict Zones will pursue its mission within and across six core areas: crisis response, education, healthcare, economic opportunity, technology and peacebuilding.
